Stiebel Eltron heat pump hot water systems

Stiebel Eltron has been providing energy-efficient heat pumps to Australian households since 1996. Stiebel Eltron is rapidly becoming a household name, synonymous with high-quality, well-engineered and energy-efficient products. Stiebel Eltron heat pumps:

  • Are German engineered
  • Are designed for Australian conditions
  • Enjoy 17% lower heat loss due to improved tank insulation compared to the previous model
  • Enjoy quiet operation with new encased compressor design
  • Are suitable for hard or soft water areas with maintenance free current impressed anode
  • Operate down to minus 5°C, making them ideal for cold climates
  • Use a unique roll-bond condensor technology for optimal heat transfer
  • Use an active defrost function maintains operation in cold climates automatically
  • Feature a single piece design for ease of installation
  • Are ideal to operate with rooftop solar PV systems

The efficiency of Stiebel Eltron heat pumps means that your hot water heating bill will be very low, especially if you have a rooftop solar system.  Over a number of years, your Stiebel Eltron heat pump will pay for itself!  You can slash your hot water electricity bill by around 60% compared to a traditional electric hot water system.

This cost-saving is achieved by the advanced heat pump technology used in STiebel Eltron systems, which draw most of the energy to run the hot water system from the surrounding air.

Electricity-based renewable hot water systems are the way of the future, and they are rapidly slashing the cost of household water heating.  Find out more here.

Stiebel Eltron WWK 222 Heat Pump

What are heat pumps and how do they work?

Air-sourced heat pumps convert energy stored in the air into heating energy.

The energy is literally drawn out of thin air by the heat pump mechanism and turns it into heat for hot water system.  The way this works is that a large fan draws air into the heat pump mechanism.  The heat from the outdoor air, even on cold winter days is transferred to a refrigerant (which boils at – 26 degrees Centigrade) via a heat exchanger or evaporator.

With help from a compressor, the refrigerant boosts this energy to a higher temperature, which then transfers the heat through a condenser to the water tank inside the heat pump.

How much do Stiebel Eltron heat pumps cost?

The the cost including installation varies somewhat depending on your situation – whether we are replacing an electric hot water system, or a gas system, whether the heat pump is going into the same place or a different one, and so on.
